TURNIP CAKE (CHINESE LO BAK GO)

This savory turnip cake (sometimes referred to as radish) lo bak cross is a really typical dish typically served at dim sum houses, and while I was a kid, it at all times confirmed up at the desk on Chinese New Year’s Day. As a result, it’s been etched in my thoughts as a wonderfully delicious tradition. Having sampled models of turnip cake (or lo bak go, as it’s recognized in Cantonese) at many dim sum restaurants over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion that they can’t be in contrast to our selfmade recipe. The restaurants really skimp at the filling ingredients, together with the star of the dish, the Chinese turnip. Most of what you get is rice flour and starch. To be fair, I do must say that together with fewer filling meals makes the restaurant models a lot smoother–almost like pudding, within the event you're keen on that consistency.
